Kyle Jewell is a Los Angeles based cinematographer with more than 20 years of experience in and around the camera. As a child growing up in Michigan, Kyle could always be found running with a camera in his hand. Kyle made Los Angeles his home after graduating from University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he quickly became hooked on the Art of Filmmaking. He spent his early years in the business rising through the ranks of the Camera Department, working on commercials, television shows, movies and music videos.
In 2012, Kyle landed his dream job on Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Within a year, he became the Action/2nd Unit Director of Photography for the show, where he was able to truly hone in his skills as an action cameraman. During this time, he established a name for himself with the stunt and action-filmmaking community for the fearless and creative risks he took on driving and fight sequences, stunt wire work, underwater camera photography, and helicopter sequences.
In addition to shooting 7 Seasons of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” as a Director of Photography, Kyle lensed other shows, such as “Shooter", “Mayans MC”, “Midnight Texas”, “A Million Little Things”, and Marvel’s award-wining series, “SlingShot.” He is currently the DP of ABCs “ The Rookie”, which is headed into its 6th season.
His passion for action and camera, continues to move him forward to keep finding new, and more creatively-driven shots. Kyle is a natural leader, and demonstrates an innate ability to collaborate with his fellow Filmmakers to achieve a shared vision. He strives to make connections between the artist and the story, between technical and artistic merits, and between the viewer and the filmmaker. Kyle implements these concepts in every job he shoots. He believes sharing a common experience and creating a connection between the viewer and the story is the ultimate goal of moving images.
